DIY Bath Salts Ingredients:

Why Use Bath Salts?

Bath Salts create a spa-like experience in your bath, by adding minerals to your bath water. These minerals can help cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish your skin. Some people say that bath salts help create an increased sense of relaxation when used in the bath. They are also said to provide antiseptic, detoxifying, and skin softening benefits.
Sea Salt is derived from ocean water that has been dehydrated, leaving the salt behind. This kind of salt is different from table salt (which is mined from the earth and then processed), because of its increased mineral content.
Epsom Salt is not actually salt, but magnesium sulfate. When used in the bath, Epsom salts are said to aid in serotonin production (the hormone that gives your body a sense of well-being), and reduce the effects of adrenaline. Epsom salts baths can help reduce inflammation, muscle pain, and tension in your body.

1. Mix Salts Together

Mix 1 cup sea salt and 1 cup Epsom Salt together in a bowl.

2. Add Color

Add about 20 drops of bath & body colorant, or food coloring. Adjust the amount of colorant to make the bath salts your preferred color.

3. Add Fragrance

Add about 10 drops of fragrance oil or essential oil (or to your preference). I usedAbbey & Sullivan fragrance oil —  “A Day at the Beach” scent — which is a really nice spa smell.

4. Blend Well

Blend the salts, colorant, and fragrance together until well blended. Use your spoon to grind the drips of colorant and fragrance up until they are well-distributed in the salts, and there are no more chunky bits.

5. Package Salts in Container

Put your newly mixed bath salts into a pretty container such as a glass apothecary jar, a mason jar, or whatever container you like.

How to Use Bath Salts:

Add 2 Tablespoons of bath salts to your bath and allow salts to dissolve. Soak in the bath for up to 20 minutes, and then rinse off in a shower.
